This past weekend, not only did the Argentine break Cristiano Ronaldo's record for most the goals scored by a player in Europe's top five leagues, but he also became the player with the joint-most major titles ever.

His goal against Strasbourg also helped PSG clinch their 11th league championship, making Les Parisiens the most successful side in the division's history.

It caps off what has been a tremendous season for the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, who also managed to get his hands on football's most prestigious trophy, the FIFA World Cup, in December.

The diminutive attacker is now level on 43 winner's medals with his former Barcelona teammate Dani Alves.

The veteran right-back enjoyed a trophy-laden career during his various spells in Spain, Italy and France. The Juazeiro native won two Copa America titles with Brazil too, but enjoyed most of his success when he was playing alongside Messi at the Camp Nou, with 23 of his 43 titles coming when he was plying his trade for the Blaugrana between 2008 and 2016.

His ability to defend and attack at a world-class level allowed for him to play at the highest level for a long time, with the 40-year-old returning to play for the Catalan giants as recently as 2022.

Somebody Alves often came up against, and who is also among the most decorated footballers of all time, is Cristiano Ronaldo.

While the 38-year-old may no longer be under the brightest of lights, his achievements are likely to stand the test of time.
