According to Marca, Los Blancos are edging ever closer to finalising a deal to bring Jude Bellingham to the Santiago Bernabeu.

After months of behind-the-scenes talks with the teenager's representatives, it seems the Spanish and European champions have edged out Manchester City as the team who will lure the England international away from Borussia Dortmund, despite the Premier League giants reportedly offering more cash.

It is claimed money is not Bellingham's primary focus when deciding on a new club and that he has chosen to join Real because of their pedigree in the UEFA Champions League over the past decade.

The club's willingness to give young players a chance is also said to be a motivating factor in why he chose the LaLiga giants over Pep Guardiola's men, with the emergences of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni being prime examples of what he hopes to be part of.

While personal terms are said to be close to being completed, however, Real are yet to submit a formal bid for the 19-year-old.

Dortmund reportedly want a figure in the region of €140 million for his signature, but Los Merengues are believed to be hoping to get that fee down to between €100 million (R2 billion) and €120 million (R2.4 billion).

Should the record European champions successfully complete the transfer, Bellingham would likely become the most expensive arrival in the Spanish club's history.
