The Club of the Century has officially handed skipper and Egypt international Mohamed El Shenawy a fine after the 34-year-old was adjudged to have conducted himself violently in their latest league match earlier this week.
The Red Devils extended their lead at the top of the Egyptian Premier League table on Monday night, when goals from Mohamed Sherif and Kahraba either side of half-time ensured that Ahly came away with a 2-0 victory over Smouha.
The game, however, did not end in ideal fashion for the record African champions as El Shenawy lost his cool in the dying embers of the match when he punched Smouha defender Ahmed Hakam, resulting in a straight red card.
Ahly was fortunate to still have a substitution to utilise as they brought on back-up goalkeeper Ali Lotfi to see out the fixture, but after the game, the club made their displeasure known by handing their skipper a fine for his actions.
"Al Ahly's director of football Sayed Abdel-Hafiz decided to impose a fine on Mohamed El Shenawy for what he did during the Smouha match," the club in an official statement.
