After suffering a heavy 5-2 defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller is nearing a swift exit from the Egyptian giants.

On Saturday, the Egyptian Premier League table-toppers looked to secure their first victory on South African soil when they took on the Brazilians in their latest CAF Champions League tie, but it was not to be as they were subjected to their second heaviest defeat in the history of the competition in Tshwane.
The loss to Rulani Mokwena's charges leaves the Red Devils on the brink of a shock continental competition exit as they trail first-place Sundowns by six points followed by Sudanese giants Al Hilal with a five-point deficit.
Sources in Egypt have informed Soccer Laduma should Koller fail to qualify for the quarter-final stages then it will mark the end of the Swiss' tenure in Cairo.
While Ahly have been imperious in the league, they have struggled in cup competitions as they have suffered defeats to Real Madrid and Flamengo at the 2022 FIFA Club World Cup before being thwarted by Florent Ibenge's Al Hilal and more recently Ka bo Yellow this past weekend.

The Club of the Century's heaviest Champions League defeat also came at the hands of a Sundowns. That was a 5-0 loss in 2019 and while the then head coach Martin Lasarte would go on to coach another 12 matches after the defeat, the result at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium saw the Uruguayan skating on thin ice for the rest of stint in the Egyptian capital.
Sundowns head coach Rhulani Mokwena has been rumoured to be of interested to the Egyptian giants which would seem him follow in the footsteps of his mentor Pitso Mosimane.
