Ten Hag Reacts To Liverpool Humiliation

Ten Hag Reacts To Liverpool Humiliation

With Manchester United having suffered their heaviest defeat in Premier League history with their 7-0 loss to Liverpool on the weekend, Erik ten Hag had some strong words for his players after the match.

Man City Star Slams 'Stupid' Haaland Claims

The Red Devils travelled to Anfield in marvellous form, having lost just once in their previous 17 games across all competitions in 2023. This streak was cause for optimism as the Mancunians emerged as unlikely title contenders, but Jurgen Klopp's men gave their bitter rivals a harsh reality check on Sunday evening.

United lost 7-0 to the Reds, their heaviest competitive loss in 92 years, with Ten Hag stating that his team were unrecognisable during their disastrous second-half performance.

The Dutchman was especially appalled by his side's reaction to conceding two quick goals in the second half.

"It's 3-0, as a team you stick together. We didn't do that. I'm surprised to see this from our team, I don't think it's us, I don't think it's Manchester United," the 53-year-old tactician told Sky Sports.

It seemed the record Premier League champions had turned a corner in the league after their defeat to Aston Villa earlier this season, but having also suffered humiliating losses to Brentford and Manchester City at the beginning of the campaign, the Netherlands-born boss has called into question the professionalism of his players off the back-drop of their display on Merseyside.

"After half-time, so quickly we gave the game away. We made bad decisions on the ball, how we anticipate, how we concede the goal," Ten Hag added.

Ten-Man Barca Strengthen Grip On Top Spot

"The third [goal] was a counter and we were so unprofessional with our decisions, running away, giving the space away, not tracking back."
