Former Orlando Pirates captain and club legend John Moeti has passed away.
In a statement issued on behalf of the family, it has been confirmed that Moeti died of undisclosed illness.

Moeti played for Pirates between 1995 and 1999 and was much admired by the supporters for his role in the heart of the team's midfield.
Dungi, as Moeti is known in football circles, also played for Bafana Bafana and had made 29 caps before he retired.
Moeti also played for SuperSport United in his professional career.
He was 55 at the time of his passing.
In a statement issued on behalf of the family, it has been confirmed that Moeti died of undisclosed illness.

The statement reads as follows:
"It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we inform you of the passing of John "Dungi" Moeti. John suddenly took ill eight months ago and was receiving specialist medical care. John succumbed to his illness in the early hours of this morning (6th February 2023) at home, surrounded by his family and brethren in prayer. We thank you sincerely for your prayers and steadfast support. The family wishes to be afforded privacy during this time of loss, and funeral details will be advised in due course."
