Paris Saint-Germain superstar Lionel Messi has revealed that he will return to live in Barcelona, where he spent most of his professional career.
PSG Growing Impatient With Messi?
The 35-year-old is currently under contract in France until the end of the season, with it unknown as to whether or not he will extend his deal for a further 12 months.
Messi has reportedly received a one-year extension proposal from the Ligue 1 champions, but is yet to commit to new terms ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner has been linked with several clubs across the world of late, including his boyhood side Barcelona.
While he has not revealed his intentions as to where he will play his football next season, Messi has said he will return to the Spanish city to live there once he has hung up his boots.
"When I finish my career, I will return to live in Barcelona, it's my home," he told Dario Ole.
The seven-time Ballon d'Or also refused to rule out the possibility of representing his country at the 2026 World Cup, but admitted it would not be easy.
"Because of age, it'll be difficult to make 2026. I love playing football and while I feel like I'm in good shape and enjoying this, I'm going to keep at it," he added.
"It seems like a long time until the next World Cup, but it depends on how my career is going."
