It has been reported that Real Madrid ignored calls from Cristiano Ronaldo's agent prior to his Manchester United departure late last year.
Official: Al Nassr Issue Statement After Ronaldo 'Extra €200m' Claim
Earlier this month, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner took his career to Saudi Arabia after he put pen to paper on a big-money deal with Al Nassr.
Upon his arrival at the Middle Eastern club, Ronaldo stated that he had rejected several offers from teams in Europe and insisted he did so because he had given his word to the Saudi Pro League outfit.
At the start of the 2022/23 campaign, however, the ex-Juventus No. 7 reportedly attempted to leave the Red Devils, with his agent Jorge Mendes having reached out to a number of top clubs in Europe to see if they'd be interested in signing him up.
According to The Athletic, Mendes tried to get in touch with Los Blancos over a potential deal for his client, but his phone calls were ignored by the 14-time UEFA Champions League winners.
The Spanish giants ultimately did not respond to the super-agent to pursue a transfer for Ronaldo, which was interpreted as a lack of interest from the Santiago Bernabeu-based club.
Teams such as Bayern Munich and Chelsea were also believed to have decided against moving for the forward in the beginning of the season, before he eventually remained at United until the termination of his deal in November.
