The executive of a shock Bundesliga side has revealed that five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo was offered to them.
Report: Zidane Set To Return To Club Football After France Snub
Following Ronaldo's now-infamous interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, the Portuguese marksman is without a club after he and Manchester United decided mutually to terminate the remainder of his contract.
With the 37-year-old currently unemployed, multiple reports have suggested that the football icon could be on his way to join Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr.
However, it has emerged that Ronaldo has seemingly looked into all options to stay in Europe in the hopes of once again playing UEFA Champions League football.
Eintracht Frankfurt chairman Alex Hellmann has revealed that they were offered the opportunity to sign international football's all-time leading goalscorer during the off-season.
"He was even offered to us," he admitted to DAZN.
"I have the feeling he was offered to every Champions League club."
United's failure to qualify for the Champions League for the 2022/23 season was likely a defining moment for Ronaldo. After his initial season back at Old Trafford concluded, it was suggested that the Madeira native wanted out of the club because they were no longer competing in Europe's premier club competition.
The Portugal captain was heavily linked with a move to the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid in the hopes of reviving his career on the biggest stage in European club football, but none of the aforementioned sides ended up bidding for the forward as Ronaldo ended up staying at the Theatre of Dreams.
Man Utd Through To Carabao Cup Quarter-Finals
Under the new management of Erik ten Hag, the five-time Champions League winner saw his minutes dwindle, something that contributed in a major way to the demise of Ronaldo's time in Manchester.
