The agent of a Kaizer Chiefs target has explained why the player signed a new contract with his club.
Chiefs' interest in SuperSport United's Luke Fleurs dates back to last season and it appears the club has rekindled its desire to have the reigning DStv Premiership Young Player of the Season on their books. It won't be easy for the Soweto giants to secure the services of the 22-year-old, who has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal with Matsatsantsa.

The Siya crew has reported on Chiefs' interest in Fleurs, with SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews confirming publicly that the Soweto giants are looking at the defender.
The player's agent, Glyn Binkin, explained that Fleurs had to secure his future, which is why he signed a new deal with the Tshwane outfit. Despite not being a regular this season under Hunt, Fleurs remains a valuable asset to SuperSport, which is why they have given him a new deal and would also not let him go for a small fee.
"At the time Chiefs told me they were not interested, and the player needed to secure his future, which he has now done," Binkin told the Siya crew.
"I can confirm that it is true (that he has signed) and, as mentioned by the CEO of SuperSport, there is both a local and international buyout clause if such opportunities arise. But for now, he is focused on SuperSport United."

The Siya crew, meanwhile, has been reliably informed that SuperSport have given Botswana international Thatayaone Ditlhokwe a new contract and an announcement of the details of the deal will be made soon. The player's current contract is due to expire in June 2023 and he will remain with the club for a few more years, the Siya crew understands.
