Neymar has taken to social media to share who he believes should have finished higher in the 2022 Ballon d'Or ranking, and also shared his view on Karim Benzema winning the award.
Mane Makes Ballon D'Or History With Podium Finish
Following a disappointing 2021/22 campaign, the Brazilian was not named among the 30 candidates competing for the prestigious accolade, along with his teammate Lionel Messi.
Neymar, who has finished twice on the Ballon d'Or podium, is currently on trial over his controversial transfer to Barcelona from Santos in 2013, but took time to comment on Monday night's ceremony in Paris.
The 30-year-old first congratulated Real Madrid's No. 9 for claiming his maiden Golden Ball, before insisting that his Selecao colleague Vinicius Junior should have at least finished in the final three.
"Benzema deserved it. But for Vini, being eighth is not possible," he wrote in a post on Twitter, according to Get French Football News.
"He should at least be in the top three."
Despite his brilliant performances last season, during which he contributed to 42 goals in 52 matches as Real won the LaLiga, the Spanish Super Cup and the UEFA Champions League titles, the 22-year-old finished just eighth in the standing.
Ahead of the former Flamengo talent were the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Mohamed Salah and Robert Lewandowski, while the final three was completed by Sadio Mane and Kevin De Bruyne.
