Amid rumours suggesting Lionel Messi will return to Barcelona in 2023, it has been claimed that his camp has responded to what has been said about the Argentine's future.
Xavi: Barca Is Messi's Home, But…
On Tuesday, a reporter known to be close to the 35-year-old and his team stated that the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner would be heading back to his former club in July 2023.
This comes amid suggestions that the 2021 Copa America winner will not extend his contract at Paris Saint-Germain beyond this season, with his current deal set to expire when this campaign ends.
However, according to TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul, Messi's entourage has denied that an agreement has been reached with the Blaugrana, a stance that football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reiterated.
Sources close to Lionel Messi insist he will decide his future in 2023, not now. More high-profile reporters later came out to insist that no contact has been made between Barcelona president Joan Laporta and Barca's former No. 10, who left the Camp Nou in August last year as a free agent.
Messi has been in terrific touch for the French giants since the start of this season, scoring seven goals and assisting a further eight strikes in all competitions.
The veteran forward was also in great form for Argentina over the recent international break, during which he netted four times in two appearances.
