SABC have confirmed they have acquired the rights to broadcast the 2022 FIFA World Cup and 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The broadcasting company confirmed on Friday in Johannesburg that SABC 1, SABC 2 and SABC 3 will be showing live matches for the men's World Cup in November.
South African fans will be also be treated to the Women's World Cup, where they will get to watch Banyana Banyana in July 2023.

SABC Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), Mr. Madoda Mxakwe says they are looking to create euphoria among the nation after securing the rights.
"The acquisition of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 has always been a strategic decision for the SABC," Mxakwe said, as per SABC Sport.
"The FIFA World Cup creates various marketing opportunities for SABC Sport and other SABC sub-brands, and we will optimally use this event to create a sense of euphoria for South Africans everywhere.
"We are committed to ensuring that we provide our audiences with a renewed sense of excitement and provide the matches to the audiences with no barrier to entry through television, radio and digital broadcast"
