With new revelations regarding Kylian Mbappe's recent contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain emerging, here is the latest on the Frenchman's future.
During the past transfer window, Mbappe seemed to end all speculation regarding his future when he inked a new three-year deal with PSG, but it now looks like rumours of an exit could be resurfacing a lot sooner than expected.
According to French outlet L'Equipe, the nature of Mbappe's new contract with Les Parisiens lacked clarity, with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner having actually signed a two-year extension that includes an option of another year should he wish to continue at the Parc des Prince.
If true, this means that, following the conclusion of this campaign, the French superstar will be entering the final 12 months of his deal with the Ligue 1 champions.
Mbappe was aggressively pursued by Real Madrid from the beginning of the 2021/22 season until May this year, but instead of switching the French capital for Spain, he opted to re-sign with PSG.
Speaking on why he decided to stay in France, the 23-year-old said at the time: "I am very happy to stay at PSG in France. I always said Paris is my home.
"I hope we continue to play football and win trophies together. Thanks for everything. I hope that I will continue to do what I prefer to with you all… and win titles together! Thanks a lot."
He also recently suggested in an interview that a move to Los Blancos could still be a possibility in the future.
"I've never been there [Real Madrid] but it seems like it's my home or something like that," he told The New York Times.
Report: Barca Still Keen On Selling Star
Real have an abundance of attacking talent at the moment so whether or not they retain an interest in the prolific forward remains to be seen, but even if Real decide not to pursue Mbappe in the future, many other elite European clubs will be keeping a close eye on the Les Bleus star's situation.
