With Cristiano Ronaldo failing to secure himself an exit from Manchester United in the recent transfer window, here is the latest on his future.
Tuchel Breaks Silence After Chelsea Sack
Many clubs were linked with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner before the English window slammed shut on 1 September, including Chelsea, whose new co-owner Todd Boehly was reportedly determined to land his signature.
It has since been claimed that ex-Blues manager Thomas Tuchel was against making a move for the 37-year-old, which caused tension between himself and Boehly in the weeks leading up to the German's sacking.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, however, Chelsea, for the time being, have moved on from their interest in the game's all-time leading international goalscorer.
"My understanding at the moment is that there is no talk about Cristiano Ronaldo as Chelsea are busy with different priorities, including the new director. That means it's too early to know about Chelsea's intentions for January," he wrote in a column for Caught Offside.
"As I said on my recent YouTube video, Todd Boehly wanted Cristiano Ronaldo, but Thomas Tuchel was very clear, on more than one occasion, that he had no intention to go for Cristiano Ronaldo. He was offered to Chelsea, but also to Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid.
"For now, he is a Manchester United player, and he remains 100% professional in training as he looks to get back into the starting line-up."
Ronaldo has made seven appearances for the Red Devils so far this season, but has failed to find the back of the net.
The ex-Real Madrid and Juventus man has not started in each of United's past four Premier League matches, although he did play 90 minutes in the team's 1-0 UEFA Europa League loss to Real Sociedad last Thursday.
