Amid strong rumours he is desperate to leave Manchester United, Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly convinced a manager in one of Europe's top five leagues to sign him.
With his push to move on from the Red Devils appearing to continue despite clubs such as Chelsea and Bayern Munich deciding not to sign him, reports in Spain suggest the 37-year-old might now have found a solution.
According to Spanish outlet AS, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has convinced Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone to lure him to the Wanda Metropolitano in this transfer window.
Prior to his United return last year, Atletico were believed to be among the clubs his agent Jorge Mendes had offered him to, which many thought was a ploy to get Real Madrid to pounce on the opportunity to snatch him up.
These latest links have led to the same kinds of questions, with some wondering whether Ronaldo would be willing to harm his reputation as a Real Madrid legend.
The ex-Los Blancos forward is also known to have a tumultuous relationship with Atleti fans due to various factors, mainly the success he achieved with their bitter rivals between 2009 and 2018.
Ronaldo is yet to publicly open up about his desire to leave United ahead of the 2022/23 season. He has, however, denied rumours he will return to boyhood club Sporting Lisbon.
