After Orlando Pirates forward Relebohile Mofokeng scored a quick fire brace against Mamelodi Sundowns, Soccer Laduma looks at the history of the quickest goals in the PSL era.
Mofokeng's brace against Sundowns in the first five minutes is the quickest by a Pirates player in the PSL history.
The 20-year-old also became the youngest Buccaneer to score a brace against a team defending a league title.

Mofokeng has continued to prove that he's a player for the big occasions, as he showed composure, decisiveness and hunger in front of goal, with his two goals giving the Soweto giants a 2-1 win and potentially rescuing the title race that looked like foregone conclusion, should Ezimnyama win their games in hand.
The Sharpeville native's brace was the second earliest two goals scored by one player in the league, with Thamsanqa Gabuza holding the record after scoring twice within four minutes and four seconds for SuperSport United against TS Galaxy in January 2021.
In so far as fastest goals are concerned, Mofokeng was far off from breaking the record of the earliest goal.
PSL records do not have systematic record of earliest goals but Mabhuti Khenyeza scored one of the fastest league goals in 2007 for Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby, after scoring in 19 seconds.

Masandawana utility player Thapelo Morena came close to beating the earliest time to score by Khenyeza, after scoring inside 25 seconds for The Brazilians against Marumo Gallants in the 2022/23 season.
Looking at other competitions, Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile made a remarkable feat of scoring in ten seconds against Chiefs in the MTN8 semi-final second-leg last season, which is the competition's record of the fastest goal.
Shalulile broke the previous record in the MTN8 that was held by Daine Klate for Bidvest Wits after he scored within 34 seconds against Masandawana in the final.
