On Wednesday, Kaizer Chiefs announced that they've tied down promising teenage midfield talent, Mfundo Vilakazi.

Aged 18, Vilakazi earned his place in the first-team after impressive performances in the DStv Diski Challenge, marking his professional debut under interim coach Cavin Johnson.

With this contract stretching until June 2028, Amakhosi supporters are thrilled, with Vilakazi quickly becoming a beloved fan favourite despite having yet to make his mark in the first team.

Here's how readers responded to the Vilakazi news in the comment section of the "Chiefs Make Big Vilakazi Announcement" story:

"I would question the ability of Kaizer Chiefs' scouts in searching for talent. My point is pertaining to Appolis. I am not sure what are they seeing in that player. It will be the repetition of players being introduced and be released the following season.

"Regarding Vilakazi the player deserved to be promoted but must not be rushed. He should be introduced when the team is winning. He must never be put in the deep end," says Soccer Fanatic.

"Big announcement!! Hahahahahhaha, a joke," says His Majesty Yellow PSL Pitbull.

"Yes it is. Signing any talented player from the reserve side is a big announcement. It is the continuation of what has been happening before. Players from development like Doctor, Baloyi and Khune to mention just those, were promoted in the same manner.

"I won't expect you to know that history since you are from a team which buys tried and tested players from oppositions, weakening them in the process," says Soccer Fanatic.

"Just to say something about Chiefs to stay relevant, eish," says zwelid.nkosi.

"It's business brother. Platforming Chiefs brings profit. You also commenting in their story, using data from Vodacom," says Soccer Fanatic.
