Jose Riveiro has weighed in on the prospect of Monnapule Saleng contending for the Player of the Season award.
Saleng's hat-trick in Pirates' 4-1 win over Swallows took his league goals tally to eight, equaling Mamelodi Sundowns' breakout star, Cassius Mailula.
There's been plenty of chatter about Saleng being in contention for the award, with Riveiro revealing that he would be "So happy" if one of his players were to receive Player of the Season.
Here's how the readers reacted on the "Pirates Coach Backs Saleng For POTY" story:
"He is a special player who always has a zeal to do well for the team, not only does he score some important goals but he also provides some assists to his teammates, he deserves to scoop the big prize as his impressive form in the ongoing Nedbank Cup, where he also has a goal, is there for everyone to judge," says benjmwaru3796.
"Jose doesn't inspire confidence. How do you refer to your player as "that one that you mentioned, (Saleng)", can fight with any other player. I mean you need to support your own. Wish Saleng all the best," says Abuti.
"Yes Saleng deserves to scoop one of the PSL accolades. He played well for Pirates this season. He received a lot of Man of the Match prizes, more than any player this season," says raditselalouis.
"At least this season Bucs will be No.2 and qualify for CCL, have already won the MTN8 trophy, lastly, Monnapule Saleng will be crowned the PSL Footballer of the season, so what more can we as Mabhakaniya ask for?" says @ThizaK.

"But they also have a responsibility over their careers, its either you're an athlete or alcoholic, you can't be both," says Shikabala.
"Wow! My coach you have disappointed so many anti Sundowns pundits. Just by fielding Mbule was below the belt for all of them. Now they don't know what negative stuff to say about the club.
"Now, the talking point is the 15-game winning run has been ended. Well done coach," says thulasmda.
"Good my coach, you can't throw them under the bus you just need to reprimand them," says Dominate-downs.
