The South African Football Players Union is planning on roping in George Maluleka as part of the organisation, the Siya crew has learnt.
SAFPU, who champion the rights of the players in the local game, have been hard at work representing players under the leadership of President Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe, while former footballers Nhlanhla Shabalala (Secretary General) and Tebogo Monyai (Vice-President) have been integral to the cause of the movement.
According to reliable Siya sources, SAFPU have now set their sights on the AmaZulu FC midfielder. In recent times, Maluleka has been venturing into a number of off-field initiatives like his ambassadorial role with Engen, with SAFPU understood to be on his radar.
It is unclear in which capacity 'Mido' will be roped in at this stage, but it is understood he will be carrying out his duties while plying his trade for Usuthu, to whom he remains contracted until 2024, having signed a two-year deal plus an option of a further year in July last year.
