As previously reported by the Siya crew, DStv Premiership champions-in-waiting Mamelodi Sundowns have expressed an interest in Bafana Bafana international Jayden Adams and are expected to soon table an offer.
While the Brazilians have gone ahead and put the Stellenbosch FC midfielder on their wanted list, those close to the situation have indicated that the final decision on whether the Tshwane outfit submit an official bid rests with coach Rhulani Mokwena.
Mokwena, who last year signed a four-year deal at Sundowns to take over officially as the sole head coach, will be consulted on any future transfers made by the club under the leadership of the Sporting Director.
Sundowns recruited Flemming Berg from Denmark in February 2022 and the former Chelsea international scout has been given the greenlight to target the best young talent for the Chloorkop outfit no matter the cost.
But Berg cannot fly solo and would have to discuss any possible new arrivals with the head coach, hence any transfer involving Sundowns and Stellies would have to include Mokwena's input to assess whether he fits into his plans.
Soccer Laduma understands this was the case with the arrival of the four players signed during the recent January window in right back Zuko Mdunyelwa and attackers, Tashreeq Matthews, Thembinkosi Lorch as well as Matias Esquivel.
Stellies have insisted they are hoping to hold on to their best talent ahead of the upcoming season having sold a few last year…. but everyone has a price!
