Baroka FC are set to make a decision on the future of striker Gift Motupa, with the possibility of keeping him beyond the end of this season.
Motupa joined Baroka as a free agent a couple of months ago, following his exit from DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns. Motupa parted ways with the Tshwane giants before the close of the January transfer window and then trained with rivals SuperSport United, before he was snapped up by promotion chasing Baroka.
Baroka chairman Khurishi Mphahlele spoke to the Siya crew back in March and expressed an interest to keep Motupa, who signed a deal until the end of the season.
The Limpopo side is currently in fourth place on the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings, still in with a chance to qualify for the end-of-season play-offs.
The club is yet to decide on the future of the player, but the Siya crew understands that they want to keep the former Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits player, whether or not they win promotion. Winning promotion, of course, would obviously boost their chances of keeping Motupa for a longer period, as the player still wants to play his football in the topflight, so a lot will depend on what happens by the end of the season.
The player will have a big say on his future and will weigh his options.
