The Siya crew understands that Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki is in favour of holding on to Njabulo Ngcobo for this season. The defender was believed to be on his way out at Naturena at the end of last season, with the club understood to have looked into loaning him out or placing him on the transfer list, due to a lack of game-time under Arthur Zwane.
However, there appears to be a change in the player's situation, but this will be a big season for him as he is in the final year of the contract. The ex-Swallows FC man signed a three-year deal with Amakhosi when he joined them but has struggled to make a mark at the Glamour Boys.
Indications are that Ntseki prefers a centre-back pairing of new signings Given Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, but Ngcobo is seen as one who can still play a role at the side, especially in the case of injuries and suspensions.
Soccer Laduma has also been informed that the 29-year-old is determined to fight for his place and has not been deterred by his upheavals at Naturena. 2023/23 will, therefore, be a big season for the burly centre-back.
Ntseki is understood to have Ngcobo in his plans and a lot will depend on how he can prove himself, having made 14 appearances in all competitions last season.
