The National Prosecuting Authority has provided an update on troubled footballer Shaune Mogaila following his court appearance.
As reported by the Siya crew on Wednesday, a PSL footballer handed himself over to the police after he was involved in a car accident in Tembisa, which left a child dead and another woman injured.

The 29-year-old has since appeared at the Tembisa Magistrate's Court today and was released on R20 000 bail, as confirmed by the NPA, with his next appearance scheduled for 4 February 2025.
He faces charges of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving, as well as fleeing the scene of the accident.
"Mokete Shaune Mogaila, a 29-year-old footballer for Sekhukhune United, appeared in the Tembisa Magistrate's Court today for a formal bail application following his surrender to the South African Police Service (SAPS) on 30 October 2024. Mogaila faces charges stemming from an alleged reckless driving incident that tragically claimed the life of Gomolemo Mavimbela, a nine-year-old girl, in the early hours of 30 October," the NPA said in a statement.

"According to the state, Mogaila's vehicle veered into the oncoming lane on Andrew Mapheto Road in Tembisa, colliding with a car carrying a woman and two children. The crash resulted in the death of the nine-year-old girl, while her mother and 13-year-old brother sustained serious injuries," read the statement.
"Authorities report finding alcohol bottles and suspected drugs in Mogaila's vehicle. Mogaila initially fled the scene but later turned himself in, facing charges of reckless driving, fleeing the scene, and culpable homicide. The court granted Mogaila R20,000 bail, and he is due back in court on 4 February 2025, as investigations continue," concluded the NPA.
