Former Manchester United forwards coach Benni McCarthy has confirmed to the Siya crew that AmaZulu FC approached him shortly after dismissing coach Pablo Franco Martin and before appointing co-coaches Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi "Kanu" Vilakazi.
During the Carling Black Label Cup media briefing in Sandton, Johannesburg, McCarthy opened up about an offer from his former club.

Responding to a question from Soccer Laduma about whether Usuthu wanted him back after his stint with Manchester United, McCarthy said it was true but emphasized that he has moved on and has no intentions of returning.
"They contacted me. They asked me if I could be interested. Manzini (Zungu) was the one I spoke to but I was not interested to go back. I think I did my work there and I did what I did but I was not ready to go back. I have moved on and I am looking at bigger challenges. Maybe being at Manchester United has changed my mentality to think bigger and look at bigger opportunities. So, yes as much as they wanted me to go back I was not ready to go back as I have moved on," McCarthy told journalists.
The former Blackburn Rovers striker elaborated further, mentioning the fundamental differences he had with chairman Sandile Zungu, especially in terms of player signings needed to compete for the league title.

"They wanted us to fight for the league title and for us to do that we needed to sign players who could win us the league. You can't drive a Ferrari with the engine of a Fiat or Lamborghini with a Corsa engine while Sundowns are driving Aston Martin and you want us to compete in CAF or Champions League with that kind of material. No, that was not possible and that's why this train moved on to Manchester United and now you want me to come back to Usuthu? No. But there is respect as a coach and chairman but I respectfully declined their offer to come back," McCarthy concluded.
McCarthy's decision to decline Usuthu's offer highlights his commitment to pursuing growth and taking on bigger challenges in his coaching career. As he looks forward to new opportunities, his ambitions remain set on advancing his career in bigger leagues abroad, drawing from his experience in the Premier League.
