City will play the hosts to SuperSport United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium when they lock horns in the final of the 2017 MTN8 competition on Saturday, October 07.
In McCarthy's first stint as a head coach, the Bafana Bafana legend has managed to guide his side to third place on the Absa Premiership league standings so far and a place in the final of one of the most highly-rated domestic cup competitions.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, October 11, the City head coach revealed that it will be a difficult encounter coming up against a SuperSport side who he thinks is very organised and disciplined.

"I guess probably when it gets to Friday night it will hit me, you know, it's a game of football, final or no final. I think, you just want to continue what you do and that is to play well and work as hard as you can and obviously not make it easy for the opposition. Hopefully, we can continue the good run that we are on and if we win, even better," he said.
"Honestly, they are very disciplined, very organised, because that is what Eric instilled in them, his organisation is very good. Its gonna be very difficult because they are organised, but I think we've played teams (that have) been as organised and probably as good or maybe a little bit better. So I think we will be able to deal with that and I think we learnt from the Wits game because it is two teams (that are) similarly equipt in strength and depth in their sides," McCarthy added.
