The legacy that former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane left at the club is seemingly more than just a winning mentality, after revelations by legend Teko Modise.
Mosimane is widely credited with the success currently enjoyed by Sundowns, of winning a series of trophies and dominating local football even after his departure in 2020.

'Jingles' is revered for his uncompromising winning mentality, work rate and unparalleled passion for the game, qualities, among others, which transformed The Brazilians to be force to be recokened with, after years of turbulence before he arrived at Chloorkop in 2012.
However, little has been said about the recruitment strategies behind the scenes, as Masandawana have been able to attract the best players in the PSL, even though for the most part is due to their superior financial power.
In what can also be a lesson to other clubs competing with Sundowns for players, Modise has revealed why he decided to join SuperSport United instead of the likes of Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and also Sundowns, after he won Footballer of the Season with the now defunct City Pillars in the National First Division in the 2005/06 campaign.
"When the season ended, I won Footballer of the Year in NFD (National First Division), after that all the 16 (PSL) teams wanted to sign me. I spoke to most of them individually," Modise revealed on Izinja zeGame podcast with Josta Dladla.
"You have to understand I can't be emotional, my decisions are life-altering. I can't be excited about everything, I need to make sure whatever decision I make will be sustainable.

"I was more mature, I spoke to Pirates, the late bra 'Screamer' (Tshabalala), everybody individually. Then what changed was coach Pitso calls me, out of everyone I spoke to, Pitso starts coaching (while) we're sitting at a restaurant, telling me where I'm gonna play. He's not telling me I want you to come to my team, he starts coaching. I knew from that table I want to play for SuperSport (United)," the Bafana Bafana legend added.
Modise's revelations show that Pirates and Chiefs in particular, cannot have excuses for not competing with Sundowns for so called quality players, as recruitment is more about strategy than a financial bidding game.
