Mamelodi Sundowns could have one of their Bafana Bafana stars back in the matchday squad for the crucial CAF Champions League second leg semi-final clash against Egyptian giants Al Ahly on Friday.
Sundowns are in Cairo for what’s arguably their biggest match of the season so far, after the first leg encounter finished goalless at Loftus Stadium last weekend.

In that match, Sundowns welcomed back captain Themba Zwane in the matchday squad and he eventually came on as a second half substitute, much to the excitement of the Sundowns supporters who were in attendance.
After Zwane’s return, the club could have Mothobi Mvala back in the team and indications are that the player is in the right condition to at least make the final 18.
While he is not expected to start, the former Highlands Park player has a good chance of featuring on the bench for the Tshwane giants and will be called upon if needed by head coach Miguel Cardoso.
Mvala has not made a single appearance since Cardoso was appointed Sundowns coach in December due to injury. His last match for the club was back in November, when they faced Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership.

The 30-year-old, who has made eight appearances in all competitions for Sundowns, is not likely to be fazed by the occasion should Cardoso need him on Friday evening. With his experience of playing on the continent at both club and national team level, Mvala would certainly be able to get the job done.
Sundowns are determined to get to their first final since winning the competition in 2016 under former coach Pitso Mosimane.
