Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso looks set to give another opportunity to a player who got a rare appearance last week.
Sundowns are in Tunisia to take on Esperance in a CAF Champions League quarter-final second leg clash, with a slender 1-0 lead from the first leg which was played at Loftus Stadium last Tuesday.
During that game, Cardoso gave winger Thapelo Maseko a rare opportunity to feature, bringing the former SuperSport United player on as a second half substitute for Namibian international Peter Shalulile.
Maseko has travelled with Sundowns for the second leg clash and it's understood that there is a good chance he will feature tonight, with Cardoso looking to use his speed to unsettle the Esperance defence.
Last week, Cardoso mentioned that he brought on Maseko to use his speed, but admitted that they did not use his strength as well as they could have.
Indications are that they have been working on his strength of running into spaces and making sure that his teammates can the play into areas where he can run behind the opposition defence, which will allow him to either be clear on goal or create opportunities.
Maseko could have a big role to play as Sundowns look to progress to the final four.
On Monday, the Siya crew linked Kaizer Chiefs with interest in Maseko, but it remains to be seen if he will have a long-term future at Sundowns instead.
