With question marks on where Kaizer Chiefs' inspiration will come from against Mamelodi Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup, Moeneeb Josephs has the answers.
Chiefs, on current form, do not inspire confidence that they can beat Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals on Sunday.
Especially, with the Brazilians on peak form of competing in the CAF Champions League.
Amakhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi seems to have exhausted all tactical plans and systems he can come with as the Glamour Boys have remained stuck in eighth position in the Betway Premiership standings.
According to Josephs, it is now up to Amakhosi supporters to lift up their team, if they are to reach the Nedbank Cup final and have a chance to end near ten seasons without silverware.
"Realistically, Chiefs is six points (four points) above 14th position and you're looking for a turning point somewhere now and you think you're gonna get a turning point against Sundowns?" Josephs remarked on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel.
"No chance! What does that point to? They need their supporters more than ever right now. As a football fraternity we need Kaizer Chiefs back to winning things again. They speak about them having this massive support but only when they are winning? Not when the chips are down? You don't hear them now, they are like us (Pirates fans), criticizing the team.
"Nothing is gonna satisfy Chiefs supporters, because they're used to winning, that's a winning brand, there's never a mentality that a draw is gonna be good and that's how it should be. They're just two games and they are in that (relegation) struggle and at the moment they don't have that character to win games. So everything depends on the weekend's result," the former Pirates goalkeeper added.
The much anticipated encounter between Sundowns and Chiefs is set to get underway at 6pm at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday.
