Kaizer Chiefs defender Eric Mathoho has opened up on his strange injury, with timeline given by the club's medical team for his return.
Mathoho has fallen down the pecking order of centre-backs at the club under head coach Arthur Zwane but his chances of featuring in the Nedbank Cup were hampered by a freak injury he suffered at training three weeks ago.
'Tower', whose contract is running out at the end of the season at Chiefs, explained how he got injured.

"The way I got my injury, we were playing a friendly match with the DDC (DStv Diski Challenge team), the way I landed, I was sprinting and after that I tried to tackle the ball. The way I landed it was somehow," Mathoho told the club's media in an interview posted on their official YouTube channel.
"I didn't even point whether it's hamstring or joint because all my leg was painful and after that I went for a scan. They found something there on my groin.
"The rehab is going okay so far, I was not running, I was just coming to the gym doing upper body, I adjusted a lot of things, (like) my diet. I don't feel like eating as before," he said.
"The doctor said I would be out for four to five weeks but so far I feel much better, I'm on three weeks now, I started to jog last week."
Amakhosi physiotherapist David Milner also shed some light on Mathoho's injury and gave a timeline for his return.
"It was a bit of an unfortunate injury, he fell badly and when he came down he got injured. The issue we were worried about was an actual hip joint but after the scan it showed that the hip joint was clear," Milner said and warned that Mathoho has to he careful with his diet.
"From a dietary point of view we have to watch Eric's weight a bit, he's one of our older players and what we tend to find is that it's a bit difficult to manage weight on the older players, so he has had to have a lot of discipline and he has done well from that aspect, where he maintained his weight well.
"We expect to have him back with the team after the FIFA break," he added.
