Pirates kit design process
Last week, Orlando Pirates unveiled their new home and away kits in collaboration with adidas and a South African luxury fashion brand, Thebe Magagu.
The home kit is a classic black while the away kit is unique pistachio green and both feature a large print of the club's skull and bones logo.
Magugu headed to Instagram to share some insight on his design process and revealed that getting to understand the Soweto giants has been a fascinating experience.
"I felt like it was important to hear their story before I began designing, and what a journey! It's a tale of perseverance, fighting against the odds to become one of the most recognised figureheads in global sports," wrote the renowned designer on IG.

Magugu shared images of the campaign for the kits and how the direction of the images he shared were conceptualized through sketches.
He went on to explain the details behind the large skull print on the jerseys:
"This idea of persistence is why I decided to treat their iconic skull logo as a Maze/ Trojaborg Labyrinth - to symbolise the long and winding journey the team has travelled to land them here. That idea of fighting for your life, throughout the odds, hits home for me because I too share a similar story.
"I can't wait to share the entirety of the Thebe Magugu x Orlando Pirates x Adidas project," added Magugu.
