The story
After a difficult last couple of seasons at Mamelodi Sundowns due to injury and a lack of game time, Lebohang Maboe was forced to take his talents to neighbours SuperSport United in January.
Since his loan move to Matsatsantsa, the 30-year-old has managed 10 appearances in all competitions, making three goal contributions in the process.
He has managed to achieve all this despite SuperSport's poor results, that sees them plunged into a relegation scrap in 15th place on the Betway Premiership table, which is the playoff/relegation spot.
Off the pitch, it seems as if Maboe is going the extra mile to improve his performances. The baller is on the trendy recovery method for athletes, cryotherapy.
Maboe has been doing cryotherapy with "Cryo By Coco" at the Human Performance Lab in Melrose Arch. The former describes cryotherapy as "the science of exposing the body to sub-zero temperatures of up to -110°C to stimulate multiple wellness benefits."
Judging by the vlog he shared on Instagram, Maboe has been undergoing 'Whole Body Cryotherapy' (WBC) in the cryochamber, with the Cryo By Coco company recommending it to professionals involved in the medical field, physical therapy, wellness, chiropractic, athletic training and holistic medicine.
"Whole body cryotherapy stimulates the body’s natural healing abilities. WBC uses extreme cold to induce responses on three levels: the circulatory system, the energy meridians and the nervous system," states the Cryo By Coco site.
Maboe is not the only PSL baller being exposed to this type of recovery. Kaizer Chiefs players have also spent time in the cryochamber, which is the most popular form of cryotherapy.
