The story
Khune paid tribute to legendary goalkeeper coach, Rainer Dinkerlaker, a man that's played a pivotal role in Khune's successful career at Amakhosi.
The goalkeeper was honoured in the penultimate round of the recently-concluded 2023/24 DStv Premiership season against Polokwane City, with Chiefs commemorating the shot-stopper's 25 years at the club.
The 36-year-old, who's contract at Chiefs runs out next month, took to Instagram to hand over a signed jersey to Dinkerlaker at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena.
Khune wrote: "THANK YOU MR D" in the caption to his IG post of him alongside Dinkerlaker, who returned to the Soweto giants this past season after leaving at the end of the 2012/13 season.
The German first arrived at Naturena in 1999 with Muhsin Ertugral and as mentioned by Chiefs' website, under Dinkerlaker's guidance, Khune became the goalkeeper he is today.
He also worked with legendary Amakhosi goalkeepers such as Brian Baloyi, Rowen Fernandez and Arthur Bartman. Although Khune only managed five league appearances this season, it's clear that he's enjoyed working under Dinkerlaker again in what might've been his last campaign as a Chiefs player.
