Pyramids FC talisman and highly touted striker Fiston Mayele is reportedly in a race against time to get his visa sorted ahead of their CAF Champions League clash against Orlando Pirates later this week.

After failing to progress beyond the group stages in their debut Champions League campaign last season, the Egyptian side have defied expectations in the 2024/25 campaign and have now secured a spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
There, they will face another team in Pirates, who also endured a difficult experience in Africa’s premier club competition last season, having been eliminated by Jwaneng Galaxy during the second preliminary qualifying round.
Unlike Pirates, however — who famously won the tournament in 1995 — the Cairo-based outfit have never lifted the trophy, but will be looking to take a major step towards a maiden continental triumph by thwarting the South African side.
The North African club have already begun preparations to travel to South Africa for the first leg later this week, and have, for the most part, sorted out all the visas for their non-Egyptian players. The likes of Walid El-Karti, Mohamed Chibi, and Ibrahim Blati Touré have all had their visa arrangements finalised. However, according to Radar 2, the only foreign player currently facing issues in this regard is their star striker, Mayele.
The Democratic Republic of Congo international was unable to travel for Pyramids’ group stage tie against Mamelodi Sundowns in last season’s Champions League. As the club’s joint top goalscorer this season, they will be hoping history does not repeat itself.

The same report has, however, suggested that Pyramids expect the issues to be resolved in time to have their marksman available for the clash at Orlando Stadium.
