Alaves 0-1 Real Madrid
Real Madrid kept their LALIGA title hopes alive with a 1-0 win away to Alaves on Sunday evening.
Los Blancos manager Carlo Ancelotti recalled Arda Guler, Aurelien Tchouameni, Lucas Vazquez and Fran Garcia after the midweek loss to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.
The visitors got the opening goal in the 34th minute as Eduardo Camavinga got his second goal of the season with a superb effort from distance that sailed into the far corner.
However, Madrid were dealt a blow four minutes later when Kylian Mbappe was shown a straight red card after dangerous tackle on Antonio Blanco.
Alaves missed the opportunity to take advantage of the numbers game and were dealt a blow of their own on 70 minutes when Manu Sanchez was sent off for the hosts after reckless tackle on Vinicius Junior.
The hosts were unable to get themselves back on level terms as Los Blancos claimed the win to move back within four points of Barcelona.
Leganes 0-1 Barcelona
FC Barcelona cemented top spot on Saturday evening after edging past Leganes 1-0 at Estadio Municipal de Butarque.
Fresh from the big win over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions, coach Hansi Flick still went with a strong side for the clash as Ronald Araujo and Eric Garcia came in as the only two changes.
The game's only goal arrived three minutes after the halftime break, with defender Jorge Saenz turning Raphinha's cross into his own net while trying to clear.
Flick's charges will now turn their attention to Dortmund on Tuesday, before they host Celta Vigo next weekend.
