FIFA has released the latest rankings and Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos will be happy that the team is moving up the charts.
Fresh from collecting four points in their two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Nigeria and Zimbabwe, Bafana Bafana are still ranked in the world's top 60 sides but have improved on the continent.
The Africa Cup of Nations bronze medalists are 59th in the world, staying in the same position as they were when the rankings were released last time.
Bafana, meanwhile, are now ranked into the top 10 of Africa's best sides. They are ranked 10th on the continent, featuring just below Mali, a country they faced during AFCON in the Ivory Coast.
The rankings will no doubt give the national team technical staff, as well as the players, motivation to keep on improving, as Bafana are looking to get back into the top five of African football, while chasing a top 20 world ranking.
Bafana will be involved in the COSAFA Cup from next week and the side will be led by assistant coach Helman Mkhalele. South Africa are set to host the competition, which will be played in Gqeberha.
