Amidst of the public outcry and pouring of emotion from the South African public regarding the likelihood of South Africa stepping in as alternative hosts for the 2015 AFCON, SAFA has dismissed and refuted that it will host next year's edition of the biennial tournament.
The FA has dismissed any reports suggesting that they have taken the decision to either host or decline staging next year's edition of the biennial tournament.
Reports surfaced that 2015 AFCON hosts, Morocco, had requested the CAF to postpone the football spectacle scheduled to commence in January on account of the Ebola epidemic.
CAF has responded by stating that it will hold a meeting to discuss Morocco's request and furthermore address the threat Ebola poses to next year's AFCON.
Both South Africa who hosted the event in 2013 and Egypt have emerged as possible alternative host countries following CAF's stance that the event will proceed as scheduled.
Speaking at an emergency press conference held at the SAFA headquarters, SAFA President, Danny Jordaan, stated that the two principals who must make the decision whether South Africa will host the event which is CAF and the South African Government have not been engaged as yet, and that SAFA will await word from CAF pending the meeting they will have with Morocco on November 3.
"At the moment there is no decision which has been taken. Until we receive word from CAF there is nothing we can do. This is a CAF event and they have final decision as to who host the tournament, not us and not Morocco," said Jordaan.
"When it comes to the Ebola concern we will seek the South African Government's advice and the reports from the World Health Organisation.
"Right now we are not at that stage. Let's wait on what CAF decides after their meeting with Morocco and we will take matters from there.
"Let me stress that South Africa is not the only country CAF has requested to host the AFCON should Morocco withdraw, there are many other countries which CAF has approached, so the South Africans must not conclude the event is coming here," added the SAFA president
