A player who crashed out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup group stage is reportedly facing a 15-match ban after his behaviour in the wake of his nation's controversial tournament exit.

Uruguay were knocked out of the World Cup last Friday despite beating Ghana 2-0 in their final group game, after South Korea's shock 2-1 victory over Portugal saw the Asian country advance.
The likes of Edinson Cavani and Jose Gimenez were incensed following the final whistle, with cameras showing the former pushing over a VAR monitor as he made his way down the tunnel to the dressing room.
Gimenez, meanwhile, could be seen losing his temper with match officials as he appeared to elbow a FIFA referee while shouting at the men who oversaw their win over the Black Stars, presumably after Uruguay were not awarded a penalty late on in the match.

One more goal for the South American nation would have seen them progress to the last 16, with Cavani believing the contact made on him in the box warranted the VAR's intervention.
As per Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Gimenez, who represents Atletico Madrid in LaLiga, seemed to elbow a match official and could be slapped with a hefty ban if the incident is reported to football's governing body.
The 27-year-old was later filmed having an X-rated rant close to a nearby television crew, during which he labelled the referees as "thieves".
Luis Suarez, who was seen in tears after the match ended, could also find himself in trouble after he publicly slammed the match officials and called for FIFA to "explain themselves".
