Groups A, B, C and D were concluded this week, with one of the biggest upsets being Denmark's failure to progress from the latter after picking up just a single point from their three matches.

Australia, meanwhile, became the second nation to advance following their 1-0 win over the Danes on Wednesday evening after France had already cemented their spot in the final 16 last Saturday.

Lionel Messi's Argentina needed three points to qualify for the first knockout round and achieved their goal with relative ease, defeating Poland 2-0 in their final Group C encounter. The South Americans will now face the Socceroos in the next stage of the tournament.

Earlier this week, the United States of America defeated Iran to progress, with the Tyler Adams-captained side now set to take on Louis van Gaal's Netherlands in the next round.

Confirmed round of 16 fixtures so far:

Argentina vs Australia (3 December)

France vs Poland (4 December)

On Thursday, Groups E and F will end, while Friday will see Groups G and H come to a close before all 16 teams fighting for a spot in the final eight will be confirmed.
