Lionel Messi's Argentina needed three points to qualify for the first knockout round and achieved their goal with relative ease, defeating Poland 2-0 in their final Group C encounter. The South Americans will now face the Socceroos in the next stage of the tournament.
Earlier this week, the United States of America defeated Iran to progress, with the Tyler Adams-captained side now set to take on Louis van Gaal's Netherlands in the next round.

On Thursday, Groups E and F will end, while Friday will see Groups G and H come to a close before all 16 teams fighting for a spot in the final eight will be confirmed.
