Earlier this week, news emerged suggesting that Los Blancos' Brahim Diaz had decided to switch his international allegiance from Spain to Morocco, with the Atlas Lions looking to assemble a formidable squad ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The north Africans are seemingly looking to build on their historic 2022 FIFA World Cup run by winning the continental showpiece in the Ivory Coast, but according to MARCA, they may not have services of the 24-year-old just yet to achieve this.
The Spanish publication has revealed that while the Royal Moroccan Football Federation is actively looking to persuade the ex-Manchester City and AC Milan to represent them, they have not got his green light just yet as he still harbours hopes of playing for La Furia Roja once again.
The Malaga native has only played for the three-time European champions' senior side on one occasion to date, in 2021 under current Spain boss Luis de la Fuentes, and when asked on Wednesday about Diaz's willingness to switch his allegiance, the coach claimed he was unaware of this.
"No one has told me anything that Brahim thinks otherwise. He has been Under 19 and Under 21 with us, and as far as I know, he wants play with Spain," the 62-year-old said.

The north Africans are not out of the picture completely, but it looks as though that the young star is still apprehensive about committing to the nation of his family lineage.
