On deadline day, the Blaugrana finalised a deal to bring Joao Cancelo to the Camp Nou on a season-long loan deal. Since arriving in Catalonia, the Portuguese fullback has provided an assist and scored two goals, the latest of which was a late winner against Celta Vigo in LALIGA.
Barca are, in fact, undefeated since the defender's arrival, and with his integration having seemingly helped the Spanish giants improve their performances, the reigning LALIGA champions are now eager to bring him on board permanently.
According to El Chiringuito, the five-time European champions have been successful in their pursuit of the Barreiro native as they have reached a verbal agreement with the Citizens over a €35 million (R704 million) transfer fee for Cancelo.
It was only at the beginning of the year that the Mancunians were rumoured to be quoting Bayern Munich €70 million (R1.4 billion) for the attacking fullback, but have now seemingly softened their stance on the 46-cap Portugal international's potential departure.
