Premier League
Result: Manchester United 0-0 Manchester City
Date: 06 April 2025
Venue: Old Trafford
Harry Maguire and Rasmus Hojlund returned to the United starting line-up following the defeat to Nottingham Forest on Tuesday evening, while Kevin de Bruyne started his last Manchester derby.
The Red Devils made the early inroads in the first half, with Alejandro Garnacho and Patrick Dorgu causing problems with their pace out wide as City struggled to cause any real problems.
City, meanwhile, had more of the ball as the first half went on but other than De Bruyne, the attackers struggled to carve out any serious openings as the likes of Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva were kept quiet in the final third.
That unfortunately proved to be the trend for the remainder of the first half, as both sides lacked the quality in the final third to carve out any clear-cut openings.
Pep Guardiola's charges came out firing in the second half, as Omar Marmoush went close ten minutes in after seeing his powerful free-kick kept out by United goalkeeper Andre Onana.
Ruben Amorim responded with a double change just after 68 minutes as Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee replaced Manuel Ugarte and Hojlund, who had a quiet evening upfront.
Zirkzee did go close to pulling United ahead with ten minutes on the clock but his first-time effort in the box was saved by Ederson before Mount saw his effort blocked on the rebound.
In the end, neither side were able to find the breakthrough and had to settle for a share of the spoils.
