Pyramids face Orlando Pirates in Johannesburg on Saturday 19 April, just three days after the team is scheduled to play an Egyptian League Cup game against Haras El Hodoud on Wednesday 16 April, Africa Foot United reported.
The fixture congestion will likely affect Pyramids' preparation for the crucial game against The Buccaneers, especially since the team will have to travel from Egypt to South Africa.
According to Africa Soccer, Pyramids Sporting Director Hany Said criticised the league's decision not to move the fixture.
"It seems that the league is not keen on the success of its tournament due to the dates it has set, and it does not want Pyramids to play the matches with all its stars, which would increase the competitiveness,” he said.
The club is reportedly going to follow in Al Ahly's footsteps and opt for youth players instead to prioritise the game against the Soweto Giants.
"Is it reasonable for us to play in Alexandria and then take a 10-hour flight to reach South Africa?" Said questioned.
"The Clubs Association must be more committed to the success of the tournament it organizes by choosing dates that suit the clubs and allow them to participate with their first-team squad,” he added.
