Al Ahly has seemingly moved away from wanting to sell Percy Tau and are reportedly open to offering him a new deal, but this will depend on one factor.

Throughout the off-season, there was a lot of speculation suggesting that the Red Devils were eager to sell Tau.
During the 2022/23 campaign, the Egyptian giants were able to achieve domestic and continental success with Tau spearheading their attack, but last season, the north African outfit was able to achieve similar accomplishments without the Witbank native at the forefront of it all.
However, it now seems the Bafana Bafana star is regaining his prominence within the Ahly set-up after he scored a brace last weekend against Gor Mahia in the CAF Champions League.
This has led to Ahly reconsidering their position on Tau and, according to El Watan Sports, the Club of the Century are now thinking about extending the forward's deal.
The CAF Men's Interclub Player of the Year's current contract expires at the end of this season, and should he continue the form he displayed in Kenya last weekend, the same report states that Ahly will likely offer him a new deal ahead of the mid-season transfer window in January 2025.
Reports of Tau possibly receiving a contract extension offer comes after news emerged suggesting there is still Saudi Arabian interest in the player, with Saudi First Division League side NEOM SC understood to be keen on landing the pacey winger's signature.

With just under 12 months remaining on Tau's existing contract, the leverage currently stands with the player, especially after his first-leg second preliminary round showing in the CAFCL, but should he continue playing at this level then Ahly will likely want to keep hold of the player beyond this campaign.
