The story

The likes of Teboho Mokoena and Aubrey Modiba have taken time to congratulate the Amajimbos, who have secured a spot in the World Cup, set to take place in Qatar later this year.

Despite suffering a 2-0 defeat to Burkina Faso in their final Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations Group B match at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca on Sunday, Vela Khumalo and his charges will be one of eight African sides at the junior football global showpiece.

South Africa owes their World Cup qualification to Egypt, as the North Africans helped ensure SA finished second in Group B by defeating Cameroon, also on Sunday.

Burkina Faso topped the group with a perfect record, winning all three of their games, while Mzansi's four points were enough to secure a place in the quarter-finals and a spot in the World Cup as Group B runners-up.

Bafana legend, Reneilwe Letsholonyane and current Bafana stars Relebohile Mofokeng, Jayden Adams, Nkosinathi Sibisi, Grant Kekana, Teboho Mokoena, and Aubrey Modiba, all posted on Instagram to commend the youngsters for a valiant effort.
