The story
Masandawana club ambassador and retired defender, Tiyani Mabunda took to social media to continue his staunch support of Shepherd Bushiri.
Bushiri, who fled South Africa after being released on bail in 2020 while facing fraud and money laundering charges, is in the midst of legal battle surrounding his extradition to South Africa.
As reported by many local outlets last month, a Magistrate Court in Malawi ordered Shepherd Bushiri and his wife, Mary, to be extradited to South Africa to face charges that include rape, violation of bail conditions, and other immigration offenses.
Despite Bushiri's brush ins with the law, Mabunda's support for "Major One" has been unwavering since his playing days with the Brazilians.
On Friday, Mabunda took to his Facebook page to share a screenshot of a April 2024 article from Times Live, reporting on the retired baller's task to revive Bushiri's Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church branch in Pretoria.
Take a look:
Mabunda has never shied away from his admiration of Bushiri and is quoted in the aforementioned Times Live article saying, "When I grow up, I want to be like my father Shepherd Bushiri.
"It doesn't matter what other people may say, what matters is what God says. I have reached a level where nobody can say anything to me about Major 1 that can change what I see in him. Every person has their own 'man of God'. My 'man of God' is Major 1," added Mabunda, who has criticised for his support of Bushiri in the past.
