Mzansi Reacts To Mngqithi’s Exit From Sundowns

Some of the most avid South African club football fans went into overdrive reacting to the news of Mamelodi Sundowns parting ways with Manqoba Mngqithi.

The story

Sundowns shocked many by dismissing Mngqithi and appointing Miguel Cardoso as their new head coach, marking the beginning of a new era for the Tshwane giants.

Mngqithi's exit follows just five months after his return to the head coach position, replacing Rulani Mokwena. His tenure was marked by pressure, with losses in both legs of the MTN8 semi-final to Stellenbosch, a league defeat to Polokwane City, and a loss in the Telkom Knockout final to Magesi.

A poor start in the Champions League, earning only two points from their first two group stage matches, further weakened his position.

Mngqithi joined Masandawana in February 2014 from Golden Arrows, becoming an assistant coach to the legendary mentor, Pitso Mosimane.

Over the next six years, he played a key role in the club's success that saw him play a part in five league title wins, three South African cup triumphs and the of course, the 2015/16 CAF Champions League crown.

Supporters on the Twitter/X timeline had plenty to say regarding Mngqithi's departure from Downs, with many, rather unsurprisingly, choosing to troll the ex-Golden Arrows boss.

Here's a look at what the fans had to say:
