The story
After a chance meeting one evening in Cape Town, Jurgen Klopp and Siya Kolisi now considers each other close friend, with the former Liverpool boss explaining how they met.
The two met at a Camps Bay restaurant back in 2019, just a month after Kolisi led the Bokke to their third Rugby World Cup crown in Japan.
"It was very funny. We were at a restaurant in Camps Bay, Cape Town. I was with a friend and as a German guy, we're not that into rugby, but my friend is half French, half English and he's more into rugby.
"He had come back from the restroom and said, 'My God, Siya Kolisi is sitting right there.' I was like, 'What? Who?' And I walked there, just to have a look and I said, 'Ahh okay.' Because I recognised his face from different matches whenever I watched a [rugby] game.
"At, pretty much the same time, Siya saw me and at the time, I didn't know that Siya was a Liverpool supporter. But then, my agent Mike was called and he confirmed that he also knew Kolisi. Since then, I've been really into rugby," shared the German mentor.
