Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has given special praise to Jose Mourinho ahead of their European clash later this week.

For the second time since leaving Tottenham Hotspur in 2021, the manager known as the "Special One", now in charge of Turkish giants Fenerbahce, will be going up against English opposition in European competition.
The 61-year-old was once in charge of the Red Devils, managing them between 2016 and 2018, and during his time at Old Trafford, the Setubal native managed to win the Carabao Cup and the UEFA Europa League titles.
Three managers took the Theatre of Dreams reins after the Portuguese tactician, either in a permanent or temporary capacity, before the chiefs at Carrington ultimately decided to appoint Ten Hag to the position in 2022.
In his first season in charge of the record Premier League winners, the Dutchman won the club's first trophy – the Carabao Cup in 2022/23 – since Mourinho was in charge, and ahead of their clash in the Europa League on Thursday evening, the 54-year-old expressed his excitement at facing his United predecessor.
"It's a big game for both of us," he told the Football Writers' Association, as per Goal.

"I really enjoy facing him and playing against him. He always has good teams; he is a winner and has won so many trophies. He's an example for many managers, so I will really enjoy playing against him."
